Michael Schiesser, MD
Dr. Schiesser's approach draws from his training in Internal Medicine, and the Biopsychosocial model originally developed at the University of Rochester. He is a 1994 graduate of the University of Rochester School of Medicine and completed a 3 year residency in Internal Medicine at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle. His residency experience in particular enabled him the opportunity to gain first hand knowledge in subspecialty areas including dermatology, allergy, endocrinology, and sleep medicine. Dr. Schiesser's clinical practice is currently limited to diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders, and treatment of opiate dependence, and he serves as the Medical Director for Creekside Sleep Medicine Center.
Practice Philosophy
"First I listen hard and make sure I have the story straight. Then I work up a list of options as I see them, whether that is a set of blood tests or x-rays, or a treatment plan. This is a collaborative process between myself and my patient. The choices that are outlined have to be measured against a patient's values and personal situation. I always want to take the lead however, when it comes to outlining risks, and educating patients on the long term consequences of their choices."
